Crime is everywhere. No matter how safe and secure that we might feel in our neighborhoods, the chance of crime is an ever present risk that can strike at any moment. The world is uncertain. People are losing their jobs, they are losing their unemployment benefits while the costs of living are constantly on the rise while our wages stay the same. This is breeding an environment where crime becomes a staple of society - so what do you do? Myself, I decided to contact a local home security company. No surprise, ADT was the best priced on the market as well with the highest level of technology available to their customers with a multitude of layers that both prevent crime from happening while hopefully catching those that are causing the crime. It's not what I would consider expensive for this level of security - you are getting exactly what you pay for along with some tools that have changed the name of the security game.
I once thought that locking my door and leaving my light on would be enough to prevent someone from breaking into my home - until it actually happened. For years I had lived a life without feeling this violation. If you have ever had your home broken into, or even your car, then you know exactly what I talking about. There is a sense of vulnerability that follows this violation. It's hard to sleep in your home. You grow paranoid at the slightest sound or shadow. That's the main reason that I decided to get ADT - I had to put my mind at ease again or I was going to drive myself crazy and never again have another good nights sleep, I hope that you never have to go through what I was forced to.
We bought this place about two years ago and knew that it was not really big enough for my needs, so I decided that I would build something and call it a guest house. In reality it is going to be the place where I do my hobbies and where I watch sports with my buddies. I got a painter in bergen county nj to help me with the exterior of the house, but he does vinyl siding too and what I wanted was a very specific look that would have been a huge pain if it had been done in wood and then painted. This way it looks very close to the real thing and you can not tell that it is vinyl unless you have the expert eye.
Of course when it starts to get dirty I shall just get some RV cleaner and a pressure washer. It is goin to be very easy to take care. If you painted something like this, then you would have the devil to pay when it came time to re paint it all, as there is a ton of fine detail in this job. You would have to climb up on an extension ladder with a roll of painter's tape and spend hours masking it off before you could start painting. Then you would be force to remove the painter's tape and mask off the parts that you had just painted. You would be talking about a tremendously difficult and tedious process, the sort of thing that I do not have any real time for. Of course that painter would have been just as happy if I had wanted to pay him to do it. He loved the look of it and took some pictures after we got done with the job.Understand Great Deal More
I am one of those people that is always trying my best to help my friends. For some reason, they tend to ignore my advice until it is too late. My best friend is trying to hire a roofing contractor in manhattan ny. I told her that she needs to consider several factors before doing so. The first thing she needs to do is find someone that is licensed to do the work. Imagine having someone complete such a heavy project and they are hurt in the process. You will be responsible for this if they are not insured. Unlicensed contractors will not have insurance, which means that they are a liability. Another reason why hiring a roofing contractor is important concerns the safety of homeowners. It is extremely dangerous to go on top of a roof unless you are properly harnessed and skilled to take care of the problem. Yes, it may save you money if you try to do things yourself, but you are exposing yourself to lots of danger.
The last reason that I wanted to discuss was craftsmanship. In case you didn't know, being a contractor is almost an art form. It takes a certain level of acuity and direction to complete a job without incident. Anyone that is not a professional will not possess these qualities at the same level as a skilled worker. Do you want to complete your roof then watch in horror as pieces of material come loose or have water filling your home every time that it rains. These are minor problems that can cause much bigger issues and they should be addressed by a roofing contractor right away. Again, you may keep some money in your pocket if you try to do this yourself, but you will most likely regret this decision in the end.Understand Great Deal More
When the cabinet door to where we keep the drinking glasses fell off, I knew we could not wait much longer to have our kitchen renovated. We had been saving money. Now was the perfect time to get an estimate from a company that does kitchen remodeling in bergen county nj. We needed the kitchen gutted to the bare walls. Even the insulation needed to be redone. It was inadequate for the cold winters. The kitchen always felt drafty.
This involved of a kitchen remodeling job was going to take some time. I thought it was going to take a long time. I imagined a huge expense in takeout meals while we waited for it to be done. However, the crew that did our kitchen worked really fast. They obviously had done this a time or two in the past. We were replacing all of the major appliances too. They temporarily put our old refrigerator off to the side so we could keep things cold.
The whole kitchen was gutted down to the framing the first day. The floor was taken up revealing just the subfloor beneath. The second day was plumbing and wiring for the new kitchen. Then other guys put in insulation as soon as the plumbers and electricians finished a section. The third day was drywall, unboxing the new cabinets and prepping them for installation. They had to level the floor and square up a corner before they put up drywall.
The crew worked fast. We had our new kitchen done in a little over a week. If it was not for the need to wait for things such as drywall mud and tile cement to dry, they would have been done even faster. The new kitchen is beautiful. The shiny new appliances are very nice. We have a lot more storage space that is intelligently laid out too. The next thing on the agenda is the main bathroom downstairs.
My daughter knew that she did not want to go to college because she had a learning disability that makes it really hard for her to read so we thought that instead of her going to a regular high school that she should go to one of the state trade schools that would let her learn a trade and it would be really easy for her to get an apprenticeship after graduation with a plumber in essex county nj that was going to take her under their wing and help her learn how to work out on her own. I did not know how she was going to feel about this but I wanted her to know that she did have a choice, plus she was only thirteen and she was basically going to be making a decision about the rest of her life.
I was talking with her and she told me that she was ready to make this big decision and that she thought that she was better working with her hands instead of opening up a book to study. She could always try to go to a college even after the tech high school as she will have a high school diploma but she would also have that trade under her, and we knew as a family that was going to be the best thing. When she graduated from high school she found a great plumbing company to work with because she was a girl and they wanted to encourage the females to get into the trade and we could not have been any happier for her, she is going to be making a lot of money and maybe even have her own business one day, we know that this is one of the best deals out there.Understand Great Deal More
The air is dirty, the water is drying up all the while we are leaning toward relying more on nature. Natural healing is becomming more common and we yearn for cleansed air, filtered through the trees. We long for the ever declining scenery that soothes our souls, and for the clean water that is naturally filtered in the forest floors. As nature goes, the yearning grows.
This contradiction begs the question; To where do we turn when nature is destroyed? Where do we turn when the air is so thick with smog that it is too saturated to breath? Shall we turn to the trees that cleanse it, or will they be gone and it be too late? Or, shall we awaken now? Maybe we are awake. Maybe we just appear to be asleep and turn a tired eye to the overwhelming issues. Maybe we feel to powerless to do anything because we feel the problems are too big to be fixed. Have we lost the sense of community that we realized in the 60's? Do we not remember that all we need to do to fix the environmental problems is to stick together? Have we forgotten that there is power in numbers?
May we have forgotten. I know I had, but then began a journey to remembrence. Having been through the internal struggle and having felt overwhelmed by the vastness of the environmental issues I felt defeated. Then one day while driving down a ribbon of highway to a distant workplace (albeit in my hybrid), I saw construction taking place on the side of the highway and I litterally cried as they cut down the trees to clear the way for yet more traffic. My thoughts whirrled around in my mind trying to justify the cutting of the trees in the name of progress. The roads would enable more people to get to work and to support their families. Then my mind flipped to the other side of the coin and I saw clearly that I was just justifying somehting that should not be happening and that I was part of the issue. It occured to me that I had to take personal responsibility for my part in the planet's suffering before I could expect anyone else to do the same. Once I had done my part then I would have a right to speak out and speak out, I must.
The first step on my personal journey was the purchase of my 2003 Civic Hybrid. Now it was time to do more. After purchasing and installing electronic thermostats ensuring minimal heating and cooling costs, using flourescent light bulbs; drinking filtered versus bottled water; taking shorter showers; doing only full loads of laundry and hanging clothes to dry; running the dishwasher only when it is full; using canvas shopping bags; buying organic food and clothing; purchasing products with minimalist packaging; drinking filtered water versus bottled water: I could move closer to my work, find work closer to my home and/or find work at home ([http://www.myberrytree.com/bt34754/free]). Only after I had taken responsibility for my own contribution to the environmental woes of my small piece of earth, could I take the next step. It was time to speak out.
Driving down the highway that bright and sunny day; relishing the thick foliage and watching it's slaughter, the follow poem formed clearly and instantaneously in my mind and I felt compelled to write it down and publish it. It reflects the sadness and urgency in the drive and it is called "I Mourn".
I mourn for the suffering of the trees at my silence.
Words scattered in my mind,
Unable or unwilling to come together to form a coherent thought
In protest of what my eyes see of what my ears hear and of what my heart feels
The trees that stood so majestically tall
Gallantly providing us air
Lovingly providing us shade on hot days
Bravely sheltering other earthly creatures
Steadfastly anchoring the earth
Now lying helplessly on the ground
Sticky tears of sap oozing as life leaves them
Unable to fight, unable to scream, unable to rail, not for themselves
But for the damage to those they served, at their demise
But they become something else
They become shelter and serve utilitarian purposes their subjects argue
We must move upon the earth and they are in the way, we say
With our last breath as the last tree is felled to that purpose.
We cry for the trees and choke on our intent.
It has often been said that I talk too much. Somehow I have alway seen this as a fault. Now I clearly see it as an asset that must be utilized in our fight to save this planet. After careful consideration, I hope that my words will inspire corporations to take the lead in ensuring that the computer age allows people to telecommute, thereby reducing environmental destruction exponentially. It is to their advantage to take the initiative in laying out the virtual path; but that's another story.

I got to Houston this morning and spent a couple of hours looking around I figured that I would stop and have a look at the old Astrodome, which is probably not going to be here when I get back here next year. I guess that they sold the naming rights to reliant energy and it is called Reliant Park or the Reliant Astrodome. It is not as big as the newer Reliant Stadium where the Houston Texans play. Of course you do not want to get these people into a conversation about that football team right now. They fired their head coach about the time I hit town and everyone was pretty riled up about the way that they had lost twice to the Jacksonville jaguars, including the game that was on last night on Thursday Night Football.
I guess they looked pretty bad, but I was on the road at the time, pulling out of St Louis last night about the time that game kicked off I guess. I probably had no interest in it, assuming that there was not a better basketball game to watch. Obviously when you are a fan of the St Louis Rams you do not have a lot of sympathy for people in Texas who thought they had a lot better team than it turned out that they actually did. We probably thought we would be better than it turned out that we were. I think that they are the first team to get eliminated from the playoffs in the AFC though. If we were in that conference we would actually have a record where we could hope to make the playoffs. Of course we would still be terrible, but we would have a chance to go on playing in the postseason all the same.Understand Great Deal More
Moving to a new place often means finding a new Internet service which as most of us know can be a hassle. It's not the fact that you often have to find a new company to go with, as there are a limited number available, but there are new packages to choose from, new offers they want to give you for re-connecting or even more fees associated with the move. I was lucky enough to find http://www.internetproviders.us/internet-service/ during my last move. It's a great site that collects an assorted number of diverse companies which can give you an idea of what you might be paying and who you will be choosing to provide your service. I wish that there were more companies that were available. Very few states have more than a handful and typically you are going to find service with one of the big names like Comcast or Time Warner whom, to me, are both terrible companies.
When a service is limited by a few it begins to restrict competition. Competition in our market is a healthy trait as it encourages companies to challenge one another on innovation and prices for their consumers. If a handful of companies control it all, it becomes entirely possible that they will utilize price fixing in order to control the prices of services and force out smaller companies. This is awful. There is going to come a time when these companies are going to be forced to break into smaller companies as it was once before and we will finally, hopefully, see a better quality of Internet service delivered to our homes rather than these low speeds and lines that are suffering from data caps. They even want to force teir pricing on their customers; that is absolutely insulting to any individual using the Internet today.
It's not hard to find internet bundles that include internet, phone, and even a cable provider. They are everywhere and almost all phone companies provide some sort of bundle. Finding cheap internet bundles are also not a problem. There are bundles that include all you could want for $19.95 a month!
People today want cheap deals and mostly are not reading the fine print of deals. Just a simple search on the internet you can find hundreds of deals that look like great deals but in the finer print they aren't such a great deal. Hidden fees and taxes, deals only good for the first month or two, or limits can all be things that would make a good deal seem less than stellar.
Luckily, there are more good deals than bad ones! For $19.95 a month (or more), anyone can have their internet, cable, and phone bundled. In some cases, they can even have a cell phone bundled for a little bit more a month. It is also possible to find bundle deals of internet and cable, cable and phone, phone and internet, or any other combination of products to be bundled.
It is really convenient as well. Think of all the separate bills that come in each month for cable, internet, phone, or even cell phone. Wouldn't it be great to be able to take care of all of those bills in one payment? Not only would it be convenient, chances are it would be more money saved as well! Not to mention, you wouldn't need to worry about 4 separate bills, just one every month!
Having an internet bundle is a cheap and effective way to get all your needs in one bill each month. Not only are you saving money, you are also saving time each month. By not sitting at the desk trying to fill out bills for this and that, you can just have one bill and done. Just make sure to read the finer print on any deal and make sure you are getting the best deal possible!Understand Great Deal More
